This September, it was for the sixth time since 2011 that Fanagoria Estate Winery took part in the prestigious wine tasting competition International Wine Challenge – AWC Vienna. And traditionally our wines were distinguished with awards – in Austria, our wines were awarded two gold and five silver medals.
The two gold medals were given to our largely sought-after wine, A Hundred Shades of Red. Saperavi 2016, and In Bond 189 Cabernet Sauvignon – Tzimliansky Chernyi 2017» (a clone of our Signature line, designed and launched specially for the German market).
The five silver awardees also were wines whose label design was created for Germany. These wines were exported to that country last May. These wines are: Fanagoria Sekt Rosé Brut; Fanagoria Sekt Weiss Brut; A Hundred Colours of Russia Krasnostop 2017; A Hundred Colours of Russia Tzimliansky Chernyi 2017; A Hundred Colours of Russia Aligoté - Chardonnay.
According to the official release, AWC Vienna is a contest that “is setting the benchmark for the renowned wine tasting competitions in the world.” It is “the international leader of the officially recognized quality awards for wine.” This year, 12.617 wines from 1.756 producers faced the international challenge.
Since 2011, Fanagoria Estate Winey has totally won 49 medals in Vienna and has been twice acknowledged “Russia’s best producer.”
