The International tasting competition “2017 Russian Union of Viticulturists and Winemakers’ Cup” held in the framework of the annual All-Russia Winemakers’ Summit in Abrau Durso is considered the most authoritative national winemaking contest assessed by the world’s leading wine experts.
At the recently held Austrian Wine Challenge (AWC) 2017, that reportedly sets “the benchmark for the renowned wine tasting competitions in the world,” Fanagoria Estate Winery received 4 gold and 4 silver medals (our result in 2016 was 3 gold and 3 silver medals).
Fanagoria’s Saperavi 2015 has for the first time in the history of Russian winemaking been awarded a platinum medal at the globally famous Decanter tasting contest in London. The wine got 95 points out of 100.
Fanagoria Estate Winery has become the first participant of the Self-Regulatory Organization “Winemakers’ Union” to be granted licences for the products with protected geographical indication and protected appellation of origin.
In February 2017 the estate wine "Fanagoria" has released a new wine with a geographical indication of the grapes "Pinot Grigio" in the premium range of dry vintage wines – Cru Lermont Pinot Grigio harvest in 2015
In 2016, Fanagoria Estate Winery has processed 36,045 tons of grapes, a record volume for the property. Out of this figure, 34,818 tons were harvested by Fanagoria viticulturists; the rest was taken from local farmers.
The International Tasting Competition “Russian Union of Viticulturists and Winemakers’ Cup – 2016” was traditionally held in Abrau Durso as part of the agenda of the annual All-Russia Winemaking Summit.
